Infected Knee Replacement
The irrigation and debridement of an infected total knee replacement is a quick procedure. Under general anesthesia, the surgeon removes the spaced in between the implants, and uses a syringe, a pressure canister, or a sprayer to deliver a solution to the wound. The solution, which is typically normal saline, is delivered to flush debris out of the wound. Once flushed, antibiotic beads are placed within the wound, and thee would is stitched up.
