Digital Portraits
The emotions of people have been studied by all of the greats like DaVinci, Matisse, Warhol, and Picasso to name a few, some showing expression more outwardly and obviously than others. Most famously, DaVinci’s “The Last Supper," explores a wide array of human emotion that we as the viewer can easily relate to. We can see the apostles sharing in feelings of anger, fear, shock, and disbelief. For this project, I developed my digital painting skills while also exploring emotion through expression and color in a realistic manor. In doing so, I improved my digital painting skills, and explored a more painterly style. Each portrait embodies a color palette that corresponds with the portrayed emotion. The portraits that I will be painting will consist of individuals that have played a significant role in my personal growth and development in who I am today, as well as individuals who often wear their heart on their sleeve and embody emotion to their deepest core. I will be utilizing color palettes that emote the specific emotions of each portrait, as well as a light source to enhance them.
