Nissen Fundoplication

Nissen Fundoplication is a laparoscopic surgical procedure performed for patients who have been diagnosed with gastroesophageal reflux disease, also known as GERD. The surgeon inserts tools and and light into the marked x's on the patients torso, pulls the fundus of the stomach around the base of the esophagus, and stitches tightly to strengthen the esophageal sphincter, and prevent acid reflux.  Painted in Adobe Photoshop.
